Summit Fever is a solo independent game studio consisting of Brodie Frehlich, whose focus is making lighthearted but deep coop games.

History

Early history

Summit Fever began in early 2017 as a two person team, made up of Brodie Frehlich and Rory Butler, working on various small projects while learning to make games. Outside commitments whittled the team size down to a solo effort, though Rory still provides feedback and design ideas regularly.

There Will Be Ink

After putting two early collaborative projects on hold due to scope explosion issues, Brodie set out in September of 2018 to create a small and simple game based on one of his oldest game ideas. The game started out as "The Great (Stick) War", a game about stick figure armies battling it out on a lined paper notepad. The scope did inevitably make a run for it but was wrangled down and made manageable, sort of. After a name change to "There Will Be Ink", the project was released on itch.io and then on Steam Early Access on September 6th, 2019. A few months later, Brodie joined Mohawk Games to work on Old World, PC Gamer's Strategy Game of the Year in 2021. Development on TWBI continued but at a slower pace. The full version of There Will Be Ink was released on March 10th, 2023.

Future

Summit Fever continues to work on post-release content for There Will Be Ink, and a new project is under works as well.
